What’s The Difference Between Griddle Cakes and Pancakes?
There is no difference between griddle cakes and pancakes. These are sometimes also called hotcakes.
No matter what you call them, they make a delicious part of breakfast.
Serving Pancakes
The best way to serve pancakes in our opinion is with real maple syrup. We usually have maple syrup on hand at all times and that’s how we serve these.
Adding whipped cream and fresh berries is also a great way to serve griddle cakes.
Pair these with sausages or sausage breakfast patties and fresh fruit to complete a breakfast.

Tips For Making Pancakes
This recipe is easy to make, but these tips will help to achieve the best results.
- Don’t overmix the batter. Stir the batter only until all the dry ingredients are just incorporated. This will help make the griddle cakes fluffy instead of flat.
- The butter needs to be melted but not too hot when added in. If the butter is hot, it may cook the eggs and they won’t mix in the batter.
- Flip the pancakes when there are bubbles and the edges are golden. If the pancakes are burning before bubbles appear, turn the heat down.
Storing Leftover Pancakes
Pancakes can be made ahead and stored in the fridge or freezer in an air-tight container.
They can last in the fridge for up to three days. In the freezer, they will last up to one month.
Reheating Griddle Cakes
There are a few ways to reheat these griddle cakes.
- In the microwave for 30-45 seconds.
- In the oven until heated through.
- Using a toaster on low.
- Air fry for 2-3 minutes on medium.
