Squares of candy cane fudge.

One bowl! That is all it takes to make this fudge. And it is done in the microwave. It is so easy to make; our daughter has been making it herself since she was 10 years old.

Ingredients For Candy Cane Fudge

There are also only four ingredients in this recipe:

  • Sweetened condensed milk.
  • Chocolate baking squares.
  • Peppermint extract.
  • Candy canes.

Variations

White or milk chocolate can be used in place of dark chocolate.

Dark chocolate chips can be used in place of chocolate baking squares.

If you don’t have peppermint extract, vanilla extract can be substituted. We have also used peppermint schnapps in place of the extract.

Candy canes can be crushed in a blender or food processor. You can also find candy canes already crushed in some bulk food stores, like Bulk Barn. We use any broken candy canes that don’t make it to the Christmas tree.

Makes a Great Gift

This fudge makes a great gift when packaged in a small Christmas tin wrapped in decorated parchment paper.

The squares can also be wrapped individually to add to Christmas baskets or cookie exchanges.

Serving Candy Cane Fudge

Cut fudge into 1-inch squares and serve with other flavours of fudge, such as our Three-Ingredient Fudge.

It is also great to drop in hot chocolate and let it melt to add a fudgy, minty flavour to plain hot chocolate.

Storing Fudge

There are three ways to store this fudge.

Store the fudge at room temperature for up to a week in an air-tight container or tin.

Keep the fudge in the fridge in a container for up to two weeks.

Freeze the fudge in a container for up to two months. Let it thaw at room temperature for an hour or in the fridge overnight before serving.
