Why Add Limes To Lemonade?
We like to add limes to our lemonade because it intensifies the citrus flavours. And in our opinion, it makes the lemonade taste better.
If you prefer, the limes can be replaced with additional lemon juice.
Tips To Make Homemade Lemonade
Making lemonade is fairly easy. And these are a few tips for making this recipe.
For this recipe, we boil 1 cup of water with the sugar to dissolve the sugar better. This only takes a few minutes to do, and we found this gave us the best results for an evenly sweetened lemonade.
We also zest one of the lemons and one of the limes before juicing them. Adding the zest gives the lemonade more flavour, but it can be omitted if you prefer.
A citrus juicer is our go-to tool for getting as much juice from the fruit as we can.
Serving Homemade Lemonade
Lemonade is a drink that is best when it is chilled. Serve it over ice for the best results.
An easy way to keep the lemonade cool without watering it down is to use some of the lemonade to make ice cubes. When we make this lemonade, we will usually make a double batch the day before and freeze some of the lemonade in an ice cube tray.
We like to serve this alongside some other options when we have a backyard BBQ. Another one of our popular drinks is our Fuzzy Peach Mocktail.
How To Store Homemade Lemonade
When it comes to what kind of container we like to make the lemonade in, our choice is always a glass pitcher. We chose glass because it can be chilled while we make the lemonade.
Pouring the lemonade into a glass container that is chilled and filled with ice means it is ready to serve immediately. Just make sure to pour the sugar water in last and slowly so you aren’t adding hot water to an ice-cold glass container.
The lemonade should be kept in the fridge until ready to serve. Any leftover lemonade should also be stored in the fridge.
A batch of this lemonade will last up to 2 days in the fridge.
