Ingredients for Brownie Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars
This recipe is made in two parts that are then swirled together: the cookie and the brownies.
For The Brownie Batter:
- Butter.
For The Cookie Dough
- Butter.
Add-Ins for Brownie Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars
These bars are great on their own, if you’re looking to take these up a notch some add-ins can be used.
Chopped walnuts or pecans mixed into the batters or sprinkled on top add a little crunch to the bars.
Different flavours of chocolate chips can change the flavours as well. Sometimes we use dark chocolate chunks in the cookie dough. White chocolate chips are also a great choice.
Alternative Way To Bake These Bars
One of the ways we love to bake these bars is in these Starfrit silicone pans. We divide the batter in two parts among these pans and bake.
Baking in these pans results in more edge pieces,, which is in our opinion the best parts.
The bars can also be cut into sticks by slicing the bars like you would a loaf of sweet bread. This is perfect for serving with a side of hot fudge sauce for dipping the bars in.
For another great recipe that uses these same pans, check out our Reese’s Pieces Bars.
How To Serve Brownie Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars
Serve these on their own as a snack or dessert. If you would like to take them up a notch, there are all kinds of toppings and extras to add when serving.
Cut the bars into larger squares and top with ice cream and chocolate syrup for a decadent dessert. This is one of our favourite ways to serve these at a BBQ.
Top the bars with chocolate ganache for a rich flavour.
Another great thing about these bars is that they can easily be packed up for road trips or camping. Slice them into squares and pack them in air tight containers or wrap in plastic wrap for travelling.
Storing These Bars
Store the bars in an air-tight container at room temperature for up to three days.
Freezing the bars is also an option. Place them in freezer bags and freeze them for up to three months. Thaw at room temperature or they can be eaten frozen (this is how the boys in our house like them).
