Tips For Making Waffles
To keep waffles crisp, don’t place them directly on a plate until you’re ready to serve them. Instead place them on a cooling rack so that the bottoms don’t get soggy.
Keep waffles warm in a low oven until ready to serve. Placing them directly on the oven racks instead of on a pan will keep them from getting soggy.
Serving Banana Waffles
Banana waffles taste best when they are warm. A simple way to serve them is with maple syrup, but there are other ways to serve them.
- Slice additional bananas on top of the waffles before serving.
- Dust with powdered sugar.
- Top with sliced strawberries and whipped cream.
- Serve with Bourbon barrel-aged maple syrup. This is our favorite way because the bourbon brings out the banana in the waffles.
Can Waffles Be Made Ahead?
Yes, these waffles can be made ahead of time and reheated. Keep them in an air-tight container in the fridge for up to five days.
Banana waffles can also be frozen for up to two months. To freeze waffles, place them in a single layer on a baking pan in the freezer for 30-45 minutes. Once frozen, transfer them to a freezer bag or container to store in the freezer.
Reheating Waffles
To reheat leftover waffles, place them on a baking pan in a single layer in a 300℉ until heated through.
Another way to reheat the waffles is in a toaster, toaster oven, or air fryer. These ways make the outside of the waffles crispy.
These can also be reheated in a microwave but we find they become soggy this way.
Waffle Makers
Waffle makers vary by manufacturer. Temperature settings are different depending on the models as well. We recommend using the settings that are in your instructions.
Depending on your model, the amount of batter you will need will vary from what we use, so it is best to follow the recommendations for your waffle iron.
We use a Cuisinart Waffle Maker.
