Tools To Make Biscuits
For this recipe, a biscuit cutter is not needed. These biscuits are cut into squares instead of the traditional round shape. This saves time because you don’t need to cut the dough, then roll it out again. The dough is simply rolled into a rectangle and cut with a sharp knife. We have found that there is less waste this way, because you are using all the dough.
If you prefer the biscuits to be round, you can use a biscuit cutter or a glass dipped in flour to cut the dough instead.
Tips For Making Biscuits
For the best results, the butter should be as cold as possible and cut into small cubes. We like to cut the butter into small cubes or grate it and place it in the fridge while we gather the rest of the ingredients.
For even more buttery flavour, brush the tops of the biscuits with melted butter as soon as they come out of the oven.
Serving Biscuits
These quick and easy biscuits are great for serving with any comfort food like chilli or mac and cheese. We also like these on the side of a bowl of soup.
These biscuits can also be served at breakfast. They are great toasted with egg, bacon, and cheese. Or try them topped with a poached egg, Canadian bacon, and Hollandaise sauce for a twist on Eggs Benedict.
These are also great with Turkey Breakfast Sausage and cheese. Dip them in sausage gravy for an even more delectable treat.
And of course, these are perfect with fried chicken, fries, gravy, and coleslaw, especially if you dip them in the gravy.
