Canadian Whisky Brownies

Canadian Whisky Brownies are a decadent dessert with rich fudgy chocolate flavours and sweet, spicy whisky flavours. These brownies are also topped with a Canadian Whisky Frosting.

These boozy brownies are one of our comfort foods. They are rich and chocolatey with the spicy notes of whisky that make this one of our favourite desserts to serve after a BBQ meal of brisket or pulled pork.

Ingredients For Canadian Whisky Brownies

To make this recipe, there are two parts: the brownies and the frosting.

Brownies:

  • White sugar.
  • Butter.
  • Water.
  • Semi-sweet chocolate.
  • Eggs.
  • Vanilla Extract.
  • All-purpose flour.
  • Baking soda.
  • Salt.
  • Canadian Whisky

Frosting:

  • Butter.
  • Confectioner’s sugar.
  • Canadian Whisky

We also like to top these brownies with chopped pecans to add crunch. The pecans also complement the chocolate and whisky flavours. Try candied pecans for another level of flavour.

Which Canadian Whisky to Use In This Recipe?

We have tried different brands of whisky to make these brownies and each one produced a delicious dessert. The choice is really up to you.

Some brands to check out include: Crown Royal, Forty Creek, Gibson’s Finest, and J.P. Wiser.

Also, check to see if there is a local smaller distillery in your area that may make and sell Canadian Whisky. Our favourite Canadian Whisky is made locally.

Our suggestion is when cooking or baking with any type of alcohol to use your preferred brand. If you don’t like the taste of a particular brand, chances are you won’t like it in your cooking or baking either.

Serving This Dessert

These brownies are a perfect ending to a great BBQ meal, but they can be served for any adult get-together. We don’t serve these brownies when there are kids at our dinners because of the alcohol content.

The brownies pair well with coffee. They are also great with a glass of whisky on ice or a glass of wine.

For a brownie that has no alcohol, try our Peppermint Patty Brownies.

Storing Leftover Brownies

Any leftover brownies will stay fresh for up to three days in an air-tight container at room temperature.

Brownies can also be frozen for up to two months. When freezing, we wait to add the frosting. Thaw the brownies at room temperature, then add the frosting.

This recipe was such a hit. I made them for girls night and they disappeared faster than the jello shots did! They were amazing and I will be making them for every girls night going forward.

Wondering if I can make these with other whiskey? I got a bottle of Irish Whiskey I’m going to try. Do you think that will be ok?
