How Easy Is Homemade Seasoning to Make?

Making homemade seasoning is very easy. This recipe can be made in less than five minutes!

To make homemade seasoning you only need a set of measuring spoons and a Mason jar. No Mason Jar? Any container with a tight-fitting lid will work to make this seasoning.

Want A Finer Seasoning Blend?

Sometimes we want a finer seasoning to coat the chicken. When we do, we use a spice grinder to pulse the seasoning for a few seconds and it turns it into a fine almost dust-like seasoning that is perfect for coating a whole chicken, but also for using on chicken breasts or thighs.

Using Rotisserie Chicken Seasoning

A sprinkle of this seasoning is perfect on a whole chicken. To get the seasoning to stick to the chicken, a little olive oil can be rubbed on the chicken, which will also help make the skin crispy.

But there are other ways to use this seasoning. It can be used on chicken breasts and thighs as well. We have even sprinkled a little on wings before grilling them.

Add a couple of tablespoons of this seasoning to bread crumbs to make a coating for fried chicken. Doing this is similar to making a homemade Shake n Bake.

What To Serve With Rotisserie Chicken

There are many side dishes that pair well with seasoned rotisserie chicken.

  • Salad. Garden salad or Caesar salad are good options.
  • Pasta salads also make great side dishes for chicken.
  • Potatoes. Baked potatoes go great with chicken. We also like to cube potatoes, season them and allow them to cook in aluminum pans in the coals under the chicken.
  • Corn on the cob. Grill corn on the BBQ. It takes only a few minutes and can be grilled while the chicken rests before serving.
  • Potato Salad. Try one of our homemade potato salads like our Creamy Dill Pickle Potato Salad.

Can This Recipe Be Made In A Large Batch?

Definitely and we recommend it! We usually make this in large batches, enough to fill a mason jar or two.

It is a great seasoning to have on hand. It will last in a mason jar for up to 6 months in a cool dry space.
