Cooking English Muffins
You only need a frying pan with a lid and stovetop to cook English muffins. We like to use cast iron pans to make these.
These muffins are baked on the stovetop instead of the oven. The steam created in the covered pan helps to bake the muffins.
Another way to bake these muffins is on an outdoor griddle. We make them on our Blackstone and use a melting dome to cover them as they cook.
Opening an English Muffin
The easiest way to open an English muffin is to use a fork. Simply poke the tines of a fork into the edges of the muffin towards the middle. Continue inserting the fork around the edges until the muffin is easily opened.
We never use a knife to cut the muffins open. You won’t get the same pockets inside if you use a knife.
How To Serve
These English muffins can be served just like the ones bought in the store.
One of our favourite ways to serve these is making them into breakfast sandwiches. Toast the muffins and add egg, cheese and bacon. Or add turkey sausage patties in place of the bacon.
Storing English Muffins
When stored in an air-tight container, these muffins will stay fresh for up to three days. We store them in a Ziploc bag in the pantry.
English Muffins can also be frozen for up to two months and thawed at room temperature before slicing open.
