Buttermilk Brownies
This brownie recipe is slightly different from other recipes. Unlike most brownie recipes, this one calls for buttermilk as the liquid. The buttermilk adds a little tang that other recipes just don't have. That tang pairs well with the sweetness of the chocolate.

- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 2 cups white sugar
- ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 eggs, slightly beaten
- ½ cup buttermilk
- 1½ tsp vanilla extract
- ½ tsp almond extract
- 1 cup salted butter, melted
- 1 cup mini chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Spray or grease a 13" x 9" pan. Set aside.
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar and cocoa powder.
Stir in buttermilk, eggs and extracts.
Stir in melted butter until just combined.
Fold in chocolate chips.
Pour into prepared pan.
Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes or until fork inserted in middle comes out clean.
Cool in pan.
Cut into 16 squares and serve.
