Apple Pie with a Bacon Weave Top Crust

Bacon Weave Apple Pie is a mouthwatering dessert that combines the crisp sweetness of apples with the saltiness of bacon and the smokiness of bourbon. It's a perfect pie for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 12 slices bacon
  • 5 cups apple slices, Honeycrisp, Granny Smith or Cortland,
  • 4 Tbsp sugar
  • 3 Tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • ¾ tsp nutmeg
  • 1 single pie crust
  • 4 Tbsp butter, cut into 8-10 pieces
  • ¼ cup bourbon, optional

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350℉
  • Create a bacon weave and place on a pan.
  • Cook bacon weave for 3-5 minutes, don't cook thoroughly, only par bake
  • In a large bowl, place apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon and nutmeg. Stir gently to coat apples
  • Place apple slices in pie crust.
  • Put butter pieces on top of apples.
  • Sprinkle the bourbon over the apples
  • Place bacon on top of pie and tuck edges into the sides of the pie
  • Bake for 45 minutes or until apples have softened.
  • Allow to cool before slicing and serving.

Notes

If bacon starts to brown too much, cover top with foil to prevent burning the bacon.
